How SMIT Has Strengthened Employee Wellbeing and a Culture of Creative Thinking Since 2015

The Information Technology and Development Centre of the Ministry of the Interior (SMIT) ensures that Estonia’s public-sector information systems and digital services operate securely and without interruption. Its nearly 400 employees maintain the digital solutions that support national security, police and rescue services, and the state’s wider IT capability.

SMIT and Aeternum have collaborated consistently since 2015, supporting employees in their personal development, self-awareness and internal balance. The training has become an integral part of SMIT’s onboarding programme for new employees.

Feedback

“The training offered new perspectives and reminded me of things I had forgotten. After 25 years in one role and now starting somewhere new, I gained a great deal of confidence.”

“I loved the visualisation — and how the trainer kept returning to what had been captured. The trainer was excellent at reading the audience and connecting the material with our questions."

“Among all the non-technical trainings I’ve attended, yours is definitely at the top.”

“The training was eye-opening.”

“One of the best trainings I’ve ever taken.”

"It was an extremely pleasant trainer, personal approach, positive atmosphere."

“I really liked the active learning methods — a good balance between thinking, doing and theory.”

“The training helped me understand myself and others better.”

“The trainer was exceptionally professional — and managed to keep us engaged for two full days. The topic really resonated with me, and unlike many long training days where focus drifts, here my mind stayed sharp throughout. The tiredness at the end of day one was the good kind — the result of genuinely thinking. I even went home and talked about the training for ages and suggested my spouse ask their employer to order it too.”

“The visual summaries were incredibly helpful. The final poster was brilliant, and even the simple sketches and metaphors on the board clarified complex ideas. I also appreciated having space to take my own notes — it helped me absorb the information much better.”
